Eastern Caribbean with St. Barths

Day 1 Sat, 31 Jan Marigot, Saint Martin (D)

Your Emerald Cruises exciting Caribbean journey begins in Marigot, the capital of the island of Saint Martin. You’ll be transferred to your Emerald Cruises luxury yacht to begin an adventure into paradise.

Day 2 Sun, 01 Feb Marigot, Saint Martin – Prickly Pear Cays, Anguilla- Gustavia, Saint Barthélemy (B,L,D)

This morning we cruise to Anguilla, the most northerly of the British Leeward Islands, popular for diving, snorkelling and glass-bottomed boat rides. Anguilla is a low-lying island of coral and limestone and has beautiful island scenery of palm trees, plantation houses and vibrant viridian waters contrasting with white sand. In the late evening we sail to Gustavia.

Day 3 Mon, 02 Feb Gustavia, Saint Barthélemy (B,L,D)

Gustavia, the capital of the Caribbean Island of Saint Barthélemy, was named after Sweden’s King Gustav III who boldly declared it his own island getaway in 1785. In this vibrant city uncover distinctive treasures in the historic downtown shopping region, photograph the brightly painted wooden houses, and feast on unique cuisine with French and Creole influences.

Day 4 Tue, 03 Feb Cades Bay -Charlestown, Saint Kitts and Nevis (B,L,D)

Nevis and Saint Kitts are a dual-island nation in the Lesser Antilles archipelago of West Indies in the Caribbean Sea — Nevis is the smaller island of the two. Edged with unspoilt curves of sand, the island is dotted with Georgian-style buildings, remnants of sugar plantations and casual, beach-shack eateries.

Day 5 Wed, 04 Feb Falmouth Harbour, Antigua and Barbuda (B,L,D)

Located on the island of Antigua, Falmouth Harbour is a peaceful port encircled by historic buildings and plantation mansions of a bygone era. Nelson’s Dockyard is worth visiting — the UNESCO World Heritage site dates to the 18th century and houses interesting naval heritage, boutiques, bars and restaurants.

Day 6 Thu, 05 Feb Îles des Saintes, Guadeloupe (B,L,D)

Îles des Saintes, known as Les Saintes, is a miniature archipelago of eight tropical islands with a distinctive French and Caribbean culture fusion. Discover the quaint towns, with their collection of petite stone buildings and small white-sand beaches. Don’t miss Fort Napoleon, a significant historical site with incredible views of one of the islands.

Day 7 Fri, 06 Feb Soufrière, Saint Lucia (B,L,D)

Soufrière was the original capital of Saint Lucia and it’s located in the Qualibou Depression, the crater of a dormant volcano. Guests can indulge in mud baths, sulphur springs, and see the pair of lava domes, Gros Piton and Petit Piton. The local cuisine is delicious — savour everything from green figs and salt fish, to local callaloo soup made with crab or shrimp.

Your Emerald Cruises luxury voyage draws to a close in Barbados. From the yacht, you will be transferred to the airport for your journey home or to continue your holiday.

Ports of Call

Marigot (Day 1)

St. Martin is the smallest land divided by two countries in the world. A journey through the island reveals both a French atmosphere in its quaint buildings and a Dutch influence in its flower-lined streets and lovely courtyards. On the Dutch side of the island you can wager a bet at the Casino Royale or dance the night away. On both sides of the island, you can enjoy miles of white beaches, perfect for swimming, snorkeling, day and night diving, parasailing or just sunning.

Prickly Pear Island (Day 2)

This favored anchorage of seasoned yachtsmen offers a natural wonder that's unique in all the Caribbean. Take a launch to "The Baths" where you will witness the unforgettable sight of giant sea-sculpted boulders and salt-water pools illuminated by the rays of the sun.

Gustavia (Day 3)

You can easily explore all of Gustavia during a two-hour stroll. Some shops close from noon to 3 or 4, so plan lunch accordingly, but stores stay open past 7 in the evening. Parking in Gustavia is a challenge, especially during vacation times. A good spot to park is rue de la République, alongside the catamarans, yachts, and sailboats.

Charlestown (Day 4)

Charlestown was built in a protected area on the Leeward side of Nevis, situated between Fort Charles and the Fort Black Rocks. Most of the original buildings were destroyed over time by earthquakes, leading to the common practice of building a series of wooden upper floors over a stone ground floor. It has a population of 1500. It is the main centre for government, education, trade and business in Nevis.
Attractions & Activities
Charlestown's Market Place is the hub of activity on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings, and the Cotton Ginnery close by, is active during cotton harvest time (March and April).

St. Kitts (Day 4)

Authentic Caribbean foods at Basseterre, and a peaceful setting virtually untouched by tourism are among St. Kitts most enchanting features. For breathtaking views, visit Brimstone Hill Fort, an impressive construction atop Mt Liamuiga that is one of the wonders of the Caribbean.
Attractions & Activities
Whether you're a history buff or just want to take in the scenery, be sure to visit the 350-year-old estate, Romney Manor, once owned by a British earl. The beautiful grounds include magnificent gardens, exotic plants and an amazing African Saman tree, which covers half an acre and is believed to be as old as the estate itself.

Falmouth (Day 5)

Tour Nelson's Dockyard, which was originally built as a way station in the 18th century for warships of the British Royal Navy. This historic district has been restored to its former glory and you can sit upon the old fortifications and observation posts that line the harbor. As you evoke the port's nautical past, close your eyes and you can hear the revelry of sailors coming ashore for leave.

Iles Des Saintes (Day 6)

Les Saintes (also known as Iles des Saintes) are perfect for the kind of traveler who relishes unspoiled tropical beauty, serenity and French style. Just 10 km (6 mi) south of Guadeloupe, these idyllic tropical jewels float like exotic dreams in the Caribbean sea. Of the eight little islands, only two are inhabited, and picturesque Terre-de-Haut is the one travelers visit first. In addition to superb beaches, gorgeous bays, exceptional snorkeling and fascinating historical sites, this romantic island offers a charming village with excellent restaurants, interesting shops and unique art galleries. The other populated island, peaceful Terre-de-Bas, is only a few minutes by boat from Terre-de-Haut and is definitely worth a visit.

Soufriere (Day 7)

Soufriere is a picturesque town, located on the southwest coast of the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. The oldest settlement on St. Lucia, it was an important trading center under the French. At its prime in the late 18th century, as many as 100 sugar and coffee plantations flourished in the vicinity. Even after almost two centuries of British rule, the French legacy here is still apparent in the names of people and places, their speech and some of the old town's architecture - enough to give the town character. Many natural attractions, like the sulphur springs, rainforest, waterfalls, botanical gardens, pristine coral reefs and the world famous Piton mountains are found in the area.
Attractions & Activities
Towering volcanic peaks and peaceful bays guarded by its coastal cliffs contribute to St. Lucia´s treasure of dramatic and interesting sights. On the north end of this island are the two famous pyramidal Pitons, half a mile high, and the now-silent Soufriere volcano you can walk into and explore.

Bridgetown (Day 8)

The easternmost of the Caribbean islands, Barbados is also one of the most beautiful. Opt for one of the many tours available, such as the popular sojourn to tropical Andromeda Gardens. They are situated on a boulder-strewn hillside high above the sea, where ocean waters dramatically thunder against the giant rocks below. The beaches on the exclusive east coast are superb, and you may choose to head straight for one and spend the entire day relaxing. Of course, there is always shopping in Bridgetown.
Attractions & Activities
For the ultimate day of fun-in-the-sun Barbados-style, cruise on the MV Harbour to a spectacular sandy beach. Snorkel on reefs teeming with tropical fish. Enjoy the rope swing, sun tanning or walking on the beach. Cruise back along the scenic coast while dancing the calypso or limbo, or just relax on deck.
